Water Damage
Residential Escape of Water
Bathroom strip-out, drying and reinstatement after escape of water from a loft in Watford.
View Case Study →A family home left uninhabitable after a night-time fire — made safe, stripped back to brickwork, and fully reinstated.
A fire broke out while this Addlestone family were asleep, with the family woken by the arrival of four fire engines and emergency officers at the property.
The family were unable to return home while the fire brigade remained on site. Smoke damage had affected every room, while windows had been blown out and significant damage was sustained to the roof and conservatory.
With the property uninhabitable and the full extent of the damage yet to be established, the priority was to make the property safe, understand the true scope of the loss and provide the family with a clear route back home.
Before any strip-out commenced, a full R&D survey was undertaken to ensure the property could be safely and correctly stripped back. The entire property was then taken back to brickwork, removing the extensive fire and smoke damage and providing a clean foundation for the reinstatement.
The restoration involved a complete re-wire and replacement of all plumbing, partial roof replacement, new walls and ceilings, a new kitchen and utility room, and two new bathrooms.
The property was then fully decorated throughout, carefully bringing the home back together and restoring it from a fire-damaged shell into the loving family home it had been before the loss.
